Who We Are

“Millville United Methodist Church is a Christian community based on loving and serving God and loving and serving all our neighbors.”

People

The people of Millville Church come from all walks of life. Some have been lifelong residents of Sussex County, others retired and moved to this area. We are a cross-section of ages, interests and people, but we are all committed to becoming better people, and to follow Jesus. Everyone is welcome and no previous experience is required.

Mission & Vision

Our hope is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world by creating a church community where God’s love changes people and God’s people change the world. We strive to be an inclusive Christian church family based in loving and serving God and all our neighbors as our actions foster expressions of justice, mercy, and faith within our congregation, our neighborhood, and the world.

History

Millville United Methodist Church was constructed in 1907 on the old school lot at the corner of Atlantic Avenue and Club House Road. The sawmill for which Millville was named stood just behind the church. Originally called the Millville Methodist Episcopal Church, in 1939 it became known simply as Millville Methodist Church. Then in 1968, Methodists merged with the Evangelical United Brethrens to become The United Methodist Church.
